December 2023 TBR

I cannot believe that the end of 2023 is looming already!! While it doesn’t feel like it while I’m living it, as we approach the end of a year, it feels like time is just flying by. I guess that’s what happens when you get old…

On that depressing note, let’s talk reading plans!

Readalongs

I have been absolutely horrible about taking part in readalongs in the past, but I’m going to try again anyway. I have recently found a YouTube channel called 2ToRamble. I love their energy and their focus on fantasy and sci-fi. I joined their Patreon to get access to their Discord community where they host monthly official readalongs and community members also organize various other readalongs.

I plan on taking part in their official December readalong, but it won’t be decided and announced until the early December; so, I cannot list what that book will be yet. I will post an update once I know. In the meantime, enjoy one of Rich and Austin’s recent videos where they are tier ranking first lines from famous works of fantasy and sci-fi:

Readathons & Reading Challenges

I’m so happy to be able to take part in the Reindeer Readathon this year! I always seem to have videos for this readathon pop up in my YouTube feed after the month starts and I have no time to plan. This time, I managed to catch the announcement video in time to sign-up:

I have been assigned to Team Candy Cane, hosted by Hannah Makela and Vanessa from Read with Dr.B, and I’m planning on maxing out the points I can get for my team. GO TEAM! To that end, I’ve made a (very) ambitious plan to be able to complete all of the prompts:

Prompt
Book
Bonus Points
DASHER
Christmas Lights
DANCER
Christmas Star
PRANCER
VIXEN
Christmas Elf
COMET
Christmas Tree
CUPID
DONNER
BLITZEN
Christmas Carols
RUDOLPH

Want to join in on the fun? The sign-up form and the prompts are available on the Reindeer Readathon website. If you decide to join, I’d love to know what books you pick!

Maybe Next

I think I already have my hands full with my planned readalongs, readathons, and reading challenges. There may also be some setup mini-readthons/reads for 2024 readathons and reading challenges I’m considering for 2024 that I’ll need to complete this month. Consequently, I’m not going to list any maybe next titles for the month.

I’m also thinking about creating a TBR game for next year to help me wrangle my unwieldy TBR down to manageable possibilities for each month. I’m looking for inspiration on this front; so, let me know if you have any TBR games you particularly enjoy that I can check out for inspiration.
